Crime pays

This will be my first post after the 3 weeks SPM lol. It will not be a post of me expressing how enjoyable , how cheerful , how blissful life would be after SPM, though it is indeed a nice one (yet temporary).

So after staying overnight a day in Tin’s house after watching Pearl Harbor, we got up very PUNCTUALLY and went for mountain climbing (or mountain hiking , I’m not too sure) at the mountain just beside Ketumbar Height.

So we went to D’Alamanda Condo again after the mountain climbing that really made breathing a labor.

And the story began…

6 innocent fresh graduates were just walking in a group, passing by a CyberCafe and all of a sudden, A Malay boy with his gang walked passed us, and apparently filled with egoism. In face with our naïve and innocent faces, I guess he thought we were just too good to be bullied and he said inexplicably :

“1,2,3,4,5,6 , Cina BABI! Hahaha…” and laughing like morons and left me stunned. Living in Malaysia for 17 years, that was my first time being called as Chinese Pig, how disgraceful it was. But what could we do that time?

I turned my head to my left, asking my knowingly piggy friends : Hey, how should we react arh?

Very stupid question, I know. But what could we do? Do we really need to start a fight over something that doesn’t worth a little bit of our attention?

So I chose to smile and laugh, and also never forget to say Thank You back to the third or fourth world mentality boys. So did my friends.

Yet the tease wouldn’t end so easily. They continued mocking us with ruder phrases and seriously, they’re challenging our patience, thinking that’s fun. There was a limit for our patience.

It was irresistible. Kah Leong was provoked. He stared at them but brought no effect. The gang continued. The monkeys scattered around. And Kah Leong pointed them middle finger. Yeah it’s kinda rude, but in face with these people whose life is too boring until they gotta create some troubles, it’s not easy to control your emotion.

And when we continued walking, thinking that everything is already over, a boy in red shirt ran into us, with a stick holding in his right hand, non-stop repeating at the top of his voice: “Mana Kuning ?! Mana Kuning?!”, startling us.

Kah Leong was wearing a yellow shirt.

The guy in red was the head of the gang I presume. This could be confirmed when they’re some lads behind him, acting as if they’re gangsters. One of the boys imitated his Ketua, holding a thin tree branch that will certainly do no harm. The other one was funnier, he was trying to look for a stick in the bushes!

Kah Leong : Jangan guna tangan ar.. Guna Mulut.

The boy in red : Kau kurang ajar…. %^*&$!@#

I didn’t pay attention on the craps he mumbled as I was doing a double take on the guys. I stared into the eyes of the small boy beside him, he looked scared. Then I stared into the one in red, holding a stick. Judging from his eyes , I guess he was just trying to show off in front of his gang and would not really start a fight.

But the atmosphere was intense. People from everywhere looked at us but no one offered help. It is a norm in Malaysia. They were just audiences.

So Justin explained :

Kamu yang mulakan tau… Kamu yang panggil kami Cina babi. Kami hanya Jalan saja dan kamu panggil kami babi. Kami pun tak marah kau dan hanya ketawa.

I couldn’t really control my anger. Facing these little monsters, I would not be friendly and not aware of myself, I had risen up my voice.

Buat apa kamu cari pasal? Ini apa? Buat apa nak ambil kayu? Nak pukul ke?

And he replied, with a way that you really want to punch right in his face :

Now while recalling back, I felt that I’m lame. You know, I was trying to explain the One Malaysia Concept introduced by Najib Razak to them! Don’t laugh at me. This is what you be after writing so many karangans.

Kamu ada kawan kami tak ada ke? Di sekolah kami , semua Melayu baik baik tau. Tak pernah mereka marah kami. Sini Malaysia, Satu Malaysia kau tau tak? “

Satu Malaysia? Tak de lah..” the small boy said.

He showed no interest in the crap I said.

Sekolah mana kamu ini?!” asked the boy in red.

“ Polis ? Ada orang nak belasah, nak ugut kami. Nama saya CHAN KAH LEONG. Sekarang di D’Alamanda Condo, Maluri…”

The boys thought that he was joking and still refused to leave. I captured their photos without their knowledge. Picture1DSC01926

The one in left was the KETUA GANGSTER, KONONNYA…

The one in right picture trying to break the stick to a shorter one. More convenient to be used to hit us?

Then Kah Leong called the police. Hey, Our first time dialing 999 and called for the help from POLICE.

When they finally realised the police report was a true one, they started to retreat. Still, they walked in a slow pace. Yeah how shameful and embarrassing it would be for the head of Gangster to run away on the spot? He walked slowly.

I called them : Eh , tunggu sini lah. Kawasan you kan? Panggil kawan kamu marilah, jangan lari, bodoh!”

Yeah BODOH was the rudest word escaped my mouth.

Hong Seng shouted at them too. Then Justin acting like a peacemaker, asking us not to provoke again. Yeah playing the role as 5S1 monitor.

Shiang Gee and Liek were just keeping their mouths shut all the way.

Then the police called back : Encik , kamu nak buat repot lagi tak?

“Ya, sebab mereka ancam keselamatan residen di sini.”

Beyond our expectation, few polices with their motorbike arrived in just 1 minute. How efficient Malaysia polices this time!

We innocent kids explained the situation to the police and I showed them the photos I’ve just snapped. Thanks god. It was useful and became a solid proof. Hey our lives were threatened. No joke.

Then the polices went patrolling around after Kah Leong telling them that the boy may be hiding in the Cyber Café. Again, the polices surprised me with their speed in catching the boy.

The boy showed what an innocent face this time. He shook his head in denial, trying to tell that it’s not him.

The police showed him his cool photo, in which he held a wooden stick, want to fight. He could barely utter a word.

“ Gurau saja… Saya tak pukul pun…”

One of us interrupted , “ Dia kata ini kawasan dia.. ada banyak kawan , boleh belasah kami”

Police nodded his head, “ Ohh kawasan engkau ke…! Gangster la..” At the sight of the police, he was like a pathetic cat , didn’t even have the gut to give out a little voice!

I added, “dia kata ,  1,2,3,4,5,6 Cina BaBI.” Then the police scolded at him and hit his forehead ,“ Kau makan babi, mereka juga orang Malaysia tau ”

It was a funny scene though. We were trying to be serious with it. How happy and satisfied you felt when seeing the police hit his head with his palm.

More and more polices arrived, One of them asked whether we want to lodge a police report. One of the polices even took the handcuff out from his pocket. Another one even had no patience and so eager to bring hem back to police station.

I didn’t want to. The purpose of calling the police is just to guarantee our safety. I didn’t want to surrender my precious outing time in the police station.

Lastly, Officer Rizal said we can choose not to make a police report. But he asked me to keep the photos, and we can leave the boy to him. They will hentam him in the police station.

Nodding in satisfaction, we left the place. Leaving the polices to deal with the boy, ultimately.

Then this incident turned to be our main topic of the day. How great having such experience, That was the first experience of ours, talking face to face to the police. I didn’t know whether that was a thing that we should be proud of, yet I’m positive that we’re right in calling the police. The boy is just 16 and started forming his very own gang, teasing others , with the thought that it was fun. We’re not the first batch of victims surely. But we’re the first group that called the polices and that’s was sorta cool.

I ain’t sure what the polices will do to him after we left. I ain’t sure if the polices were just acting in front of us, portraying a good and noble image before us. Well I bet the boy had got his lesson. He’s just a small boy but started creating troubles in such a tender age. It’s indeed a shame to his parents and reflected badly on his upbringing.

When can only we Malaysians get ourselves out from the shadows and live harmoniously without discriminating other races? I don’t mean to refer to only Malays, but also to Chinese. One Malaysia sounds good, but are we Malaysians on the tracks in realising it? It’s just an empty slogan anyhow. Sometimes you feel depressed seeing other countries develop in a fast pace while we are still trapped in this racial issue…

Nevertheless, sorry to admit , it was quite a fun experience, I know it’s no longer fun if we really got beaten up. Yet something occurred in my mind after this incident.

You see. The Ketua has a lot of friends when he teased and made a fool on us. Things were different when he got himself into a big trouble that even involved the police. Where were the friends? No sign at all.

A quotation from Oprah Winsfrey , Justin taught me that.

“A friend will not only sit with you in a limousine but will take the bus with you when the limousine breaks down”

True enough. Friends that circle your orbit , how many will be there for you when you’re in trouble? It is normal. Hero cannot survive in this realistic, materialistic world. Maybe this is just my cynical narrow view.

But I have to honestly admit that, no matter you believe or not, I actually prepare myself for a fight seeing the guy in red ran into us. Should the guy in red really smashes Kah Leong’s head with that wooden stick, I will say, I will lose control of myself and get involve in it. That the conclusion I got after asking myself sincerely. It sounds stupid perhaps. I’m not smart enough to respond quickly to situation and that’s what I will do for self defense.

P/S : hey guys. we forgot to tell them we have a gang too. That’s Usha Gang. ( Refer to the few previous post ) xD
